Paige Barefoot uses empathy to create thoughtful and engaging user-centered designs.

Paige was a user experience designer before it ever had a name. Throughout her career, empathy has always been the driving force behind her designs, putting user wants and needs front and center. As a user advocate, she brings accessibility and inclusive design thinking to the forefront of every project discussion to ensure it is easy to understand as well as accessible to everyone. A former journalist, Paige has a knack for breaking down information in clear, concise language and making it visually engaging. She currently serves as the marketing manager for consumer engagement as a part of McClatchy’s Central Marketing Team, and has also served as a creative manager, senior designer, product designer and digital media designer at McClatchy.

Paige has held other roles such as interactive designer, online producer, features and news designer, art adviser, art director, graphic artist, page designer and copy editor. She thrives within an upbeat, collaborative environment, working together to build on ideas to create the best possible solutions for users.

In her spare time, she enjoys using her powers for good as a volunteer with the North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance.
